Neck Heel

Effects string performance, tone, definition or articulation

  • Width at nut – 1 11/16
  • Width at 24th fret – 2 1/4

Shape – Cross between a U shape and modern oval – a little more shoulder

  • A. Provides an even back surface for more sophisticated techniques
  • B. Added rigidity improves string performance
  • C. Adds to overall strength and stability
25.5″ scale length
  • A. Long scale length requires extra tension which adds punch to performance

Maple three piece neck – Lamination stands against string tension

  • A. Super rigid platform for the strings that improves string performance
  • B. Maple material plus rigidity enhances the highs and clarity
  • C. No lamination at heel
  • D. Allows for extended cutaways without sacrificing strength and performance
  • E . Eliminates need for added structural support at nut

Dual action steel truss rod

  • A. Dual action rod is exceptionally effective at removing irregularities
  • B. Combined with 3 piece maple neck provides great adjustability and stability.

HEEL – Deep cut with three ply cap that transitions with side binding

  • Seamless contoured heel for comfortable access to high frets

Seymour Duncan Blackout Active Pickups

Higher output

  • A. 1 to 2 db hotter than typical active pickup. The greater sense of power comes from the expanded dynamic range.
  • B. Typically 6 to 10db hotter than passive pickups

Extended frequency range – Captures the extremes of tone

Un-scooped mids – Offers greater harmonic complexity and mid punch

Separate differential preamp with balanced inputs for each pickup

  • A. Reduces noise by 12 to 14db
  • B. Special shielding technique inside pickup housing
  • C. Allows for layers of harmonic overtones impossible w/ other pickups

Consistent tone when volume reduced – Doesn’t become dark sounding

  • A. Great for that extra sparkle needed for chorus and other effects

Less compressed sounding – Pickups don’t impose alien freq. curve on guitar

  •  A. Allows for more powerful dynamics and greater range of expression
  • B. Sound quality is more open and organic – less sterile
  • C. Natural sonic quality of guitar is captured rather than   compromised

Matched set – Compensates for different string characteristics created by varying string excursion at bridge and neck positions

Bridge pickup – Increase in power for lead work

  • A. Ceramic magnet for greater punch and grit
  • B. Hotter coil ouput for more aggressive style

Neck pickup

  • Alnico 5 magnet – for improved warmth, depth, and articulation

Ebony fingerboard

  • A. Dense grain quality enhances highs and maintains string energy
  • B. Adds to strength and stability of neck
  • C. Silky smooth surface reduces finger drag

Radius 12.6”

  • A. Flatter fingerboard allows for extreme bends on higher frets without killing the note.

Laser cut pearloid inlay – Precision fit with ebony fingerboard

24 Jumbo polished nickel silver frets

  • A. Allows for greater physical expression on bends with less drag
  • B. Nickel silver produces great tone and sustain
  • C. Will last through many fret jobs
  • D. Specs. similar to 6100

Binding – Three ply piping

  • A. Covers fret tang slot – prevents finish flaking
  • B. Provides a softer feel with a rolled edge

Floyd Rose Original FRT500K – Made in Germany ( not Korean 1000 series)

Precision machined from high grade hardened steel

Knife edge contact points to reduce friction

Locking saddles with fine tuners

Locking nut – essential to maintain tuning

One of most overlooked elements for improving performance
Not just for holding the tuners

Design – Consistent with body & inlay design – smaller size

  • A. Smaller resonant surface does not absorb string energy
  • B. Reduced weight – Less neck heavy
  • C. Converging gears allow for straighter string pull through nut
  • D. Shorter distance to string post – greater bearing pressure

Grover machine heads – 18 to 1 tuning ratio

  • A. Improved tuning accuracy
  • B. Holds pitch
  • C. Permanently lubed
  • D. keeps out dust and dirt
  • E. Button design super comfortable – no sharp corners

17 degree angle – provides greater bearing pressure at nut

  • Maintains string energy for greater attach and sustain

Tusk nut

  • Locking steel nut essential to maintain tuning for aggressive players

Maple three piece – slightly thicker

  • A. Improved rigidity conserves string energy
  • B. Improved strength eliminates need for added reinforcement or      scarf joint behind nut.
  • C. Nature of maple enhances highs

Truss rod adjustable at nut

  • Carved arch top significant factor in performance
  • Double extended cutaways for full access to the 24th fret
  • 3 piece seasoned nato body
Nato has performance qualities similar to mahogany
  • Arch under bridge – violin style
Violin style carved top adds extra mass under bridge for improved string performance
Raised bridge height for extra playing comfort
  • 15/8 Depth from edge of front binding to back edge of body
  • 5 ply reverse black binding
    Protects edges of body
Serves to define the unique body geometry
  • Finish – polyurethane
    Super durable
    Produces incredible luster

2 volume controls

  • A. Biasing the volume between Bridge and neck pickups takes advantage of extreme mechanical tone differences between the different pickup placement. The volume controls act as the ultimate tone control.
  • B. Can add amazing tension during leads because as you increase the bridge volume, you are also increasing the intensity or aggressive nature of the sound. A regular tone control doesn’t alter the sonic character of the sound, only the tone.
  • C. The above is especially true because of the different character of bridge and neck Blackout pickups.
  • D. Audio taper for even boost though out it’s range

1 Tone control – Adjusts overall tone of signal

Three way toggle switch – selects individual pickup or both

Steel 4 screw jack plate

  • A. Will not crack like plastic plates

5. Separate 9 volt battery compartment
